Graham Ewing, CFP®, MBA
Director of Financial Planning Standards
Wealth Advisor
Role at The Consulate:
My primary role at the firm is guiding clients through the financial aspect of life transitions that are often stressful. I focus on providing strategies related to tax planning, estate planning, investment planning, and retirement planning. In addition, I help lead the Financial Planning department by supporting newer advisors and continuously looking for ways to improve how we serve our clients.
Educational Background:
I graduated with my bachelor’s degree from Towson University, where I majored in business administration with a concentration in finance and minored in economics. I earned my Certified Financial Planner™ designation in 2015 and in 2019, I graduated from California Lutheran University with a Master of Business Administration with an emphasis in Financial Planning.
Why I Became a Financial Advisor:
My grandmother is the reason I became a financial advisor. She was a perfect example of how constantly striving to serve others can bring the greatest fulfillment in life. I was also inspired by an unfortunate experience she had with a “financial advisor.” Instead of giving her comprehensive advice that would have financially prepared her for the unexpected passing of my grandfather, this advisor was focused only on selling financial products that ended up benefiting him the most. I knew there had to be a better way than this. Upon graduation from Towson University, I found this better way with the Financial Consulate and I see this true commitment to putting the client first in all firms within the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA).
Outside the Office:
I enjoy spending time with my family, and I love to travel. My favorite memories are when those two things are combined. I’ve traveled to Scotland, Holland, England, Denmark, Sweden, Iceland, Italy, Canada, Mexico, and 41 of the 50 states. Now that my wife and I have our daughter and son, we are looking forward to passing on the love of travel to them too!
