When beginning to work with a Financial Consulate wealth advisor, questions are bound to arise about what to expect. Please refer to our list of frequently asked questions below for the answers to questions we often receive from potential clients. If you have a question that is not listed, please contact us and we will be happy to assist.

Does Financial Consulate serve clients regardless of their location in the United States?

Yes! While Financial Consulate has offices in Hunt Valley, Maryland, Fernandina Beach, Florida, and Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, we serve clients from across the nation.

Is there a minimum annual fee associated with being a Financial Consulate client?

Yes. We have a minimum annual fee that is typically met when a new client brings in managed assets of $500,000 or more.

How do Financial Consulate's wealth advisors make money?

We compensate our investment adviser representatives with salary, not commissions or revenue sharing.

Do you or your financial professionals have legal or disciplinary history?

No; neither us nor our nor our investment adviser representatives have a legal or disciplinary history to report. You can look up more
information about us and our investment adviser representatives at https://www.investor.gov/CRS.

What is a NAPFA-registered financial advisor?

Members of the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA) meet certain requirements and earn the right to call themselves NAPFA-Registered Financial Advisors. This prestigious title identifies competent professionals who subscribe to a high code of ethics. Their only purpose is to improve their clients’ financial well-being.

Of the 300,000 people in the US who call themselves financial advisors, less than 1% adhere to the strict standards that NAPFA requires.

What does it mean for Financial Consulate to be "fee-only?"

We operate on an objective, fee-only basis, meaning we don’t accept commissions, referral fees, or kickbacks.

What is a Financial Physical™ and how is it used?

Much like a medical doctor who analyzes their patient’s overall health, our firm utilizes a Financial Physical™ to assess one’s comprehensive financial situation. A Financial Physical™ is a comprehensive assessment used to diagnose whether your financial situation truly supports your values and goals. It takes into account your financial present and looks ahead to your hopes for the future to ensure both are aligned and in support of one another.

What would my first meeting look like with a Financial Consulate wealth advisor?

Our first meeting is a brief Discovery Call designed to assess whether we would be a mutual fit. The Discovery Call may be followed up with either a Financial Physical™ or an in-person introduction meeting.
